Annual Meeting June 17/18 2025 at the University of Zurich
The Future of Career Services
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us in Zurich!
We were truly impressed by the 80 Career Services professionals who came together for this event. It’s encouraging to see how strongly the topics resonated with the community.
The meeting allowed us to explore new formats – and even with the sunshine outside, this was far from a feel-good-only gathering. The challenges facing our field were clearly and openly addressed.
Key Challenges
- To help address global issues, universities must ensure that graduates can apply their skills quickly and across disciplines.
- Unemployment among academic profiles is on the rise – especially in entry-level roles, which are increasingly at risk of being replaced by AI.
- Career development remains important for students – but rarely feels urgent.
Shared Solutions
- One of the great strengths of Career Services is the freedom to shape our work in meaningful ways – allowing us to adapt to evolving needs.
- We learn best when collaborating – with peers from other countries and with our technology partners.
- There is growing interest in engaging more deeply with strategic and data-driven topics, to increase the impact of our work.
- Most importantly, we are a community committed to learning – and to learning better and faster, together. A big thank you to the Career Services community of Switzerland for creating such an inspiring atmosphere – and to the UZH Career Services team for making this event possible.
