Tracking the Swiss graduates job market
The Swiss Graduates Job Market Monitor (GJMM) tracks developments in the Swiss labour market for university graduates.
Based on data from Swiss university job platforms, the GJMM provides a regular indication of how employment opportunities for students and graduates are developing over time
Launched by the Career Services Network Switzerland (CSNCH) in 2020, the GJMM provides Career Services and other stakeholders with evidence to better understand changes in the graduate labour market and to support students and graduates in their transition from university to work.
What does the GJMM tell us?
The graduate labour market is constantly changing. Economic developments, shifts in employer demand and structural changes can influence the opportunities available to students and graduates.
The GJMM makes these developments visible by tracking the number of job opportunities published on participating Swiss university job platforms.
Rather than providing a forecast of the labour market, the GJMM serves as a regular indicator of its development over time.
How does the GJMM work?
The current GJMM is based on Indicator J – Job Platforms.
Participating Swiss university Career Services regularly report the number of jobs published on their job platforms. These data are aggregated and used to monitor changes in the volume of opportunities available to students and graduates.
Results are published quarterly.
To make developments easier to compare over time, the GJMM also uses an index with October 2020 = 100 as its reference point.

From a crisis monitor to a long-term indicator
The GJMM was launched in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty it created for students, graduates and employers.
Initially, CSNCH monitored the situation through several indicators, including surveys of employers, students and Career Services as well as data from university job platforms.
What started as a response to an exceptional situation has developed into a long-term monitoring instrument. Today, Indicator J – Job Platforms forms the core of the GJMM and allows developments in the graduate job market to be followed consistently over time.
